LARGE FORM REPRESENTING AN INSTALLATION
A Temporary Art Exhibit
In this design charette, I designed a temporary art exhibit that was inspired by the piece of artwork it would exhibit.
The inspiration was the painting, Large Painting Representing a Landscape by artist Yves Tanguy in 1927. I wanted to create something that felt a little weird. I wanted to capture the feeling as if you were engulfed underwater, and through irregular repetition, I captured the essence of the being under water.
"I WANTED TO CAPTURE THE FEELING AS IF YOU WERE ENGULFED UNDERWATER, AND THROUGH IRREGULAR REPETITION..."
As the envelope is translucent, lighting becomes a major consideration. The exhibit appears like a lantern: glowing from the inside out.Â
